Ideas for winching the load

I've been thinking of ways to lift the heavy load into the air so that it can be moved 4m. I've thought of a number of ways which i think would be suitbale. The first idea was a rachet puller. There a number of different variations of this type of product and i have shown a couple of them below.

Cable Rachet Puller -http://img.hisupplier.com/

Chain Rachet Puller - http://www.e-rackonline.com/

Both of these products are able to lift much more than 1 tonne. The cable ratchet puller is obviously lighter as the chain rachet puller has heavy chains. This product would be connected to the top of the crane.

Another system i have thought of is the block and tackle pulley system. It works by having two pulleys connected with a rope. it works by the pulleys either coming together to lift the load or move apart to lower the load. When you pull the rope with little effort it is magnetised and makes ease of lifting the heavy load. The effort seems like alot more than it acually is.

  1. What are the pros and cons associated with using manual winches as opposed to those powered by electricity or other power source.

  2. The pros and cons are the following:

    Advantages for manual winches:

The pros for using these hand winches is that they are strong, well built, and versatile.
There is no installation required and almost nothing can go wrong throughout its lifetime. Also it has little and in some cases no maintenance required. Another advantage of a manual winch is that it is much cheaper than an electric winch

    Disadvantages for manual winches:

From research the only cons that I can find these hand pulling winches is that they are heavy and that manual labour is required in order for the load to be lifted.

    Advantages of electrical powered winches:

An electric winch is permanently mounted and ready to go all the time.

An electric winch requires a lot less effort to use and is a lot quicker too. Having an electrical winch is probably best for this projects situation. Manual labour would take a lot longer to lift up 1 tonne at a time.

    Disadvantages of electrical powered winches:

The disadvantage of having an electrical winch is that it can get very expensive. First of all buying one that suits your needs. The heavier the load, the more expensive the winch would get. And maintaining the winch can be costly too. Unlike a manual winch, parts for an electrical winch are expensive.
